WV Early Learning Synopsis

Beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) collaborated with the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) and Marshall University on a five-year study to evaluate the West Virginia Universal Pre-K (WV Pre-K) program. The study aimed to assess the program's effectiveness, determine if initial benefits lead to long-term educational advantages, and evaluate the quality of children's educational experiences through grade three. The study included seven counties with lower pre-K participation rates for comparison: Fayette, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Nicholas, Putnam, Roane, and Wood counties.
