Data Collectors

The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER), Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University‐-New Brunswick, seeks to hire data collectors for training and administering child and classroom assessment instruments in pre‐K to Third Grade classrooms.

NIEER accepts application year-round for the Data Collector position, however, the position is often seasonal (Fall, Winter, Spring only).

NIEER has hired data collectors to administer child and classroom assessment instruments in pre‐K to Third Grade classrooms in various locations, specifically in New Jersey and the Philadelphia, PA area. Requirements:

  • Applicants preferred: graduate students, applicants with a BA, or current upperclassman undergraduate students with a focus on child development, early childhood, psychology or related field, withholding an excellent academic record 
  • Knowledge about child development and developmentally appropriate early childhood teaching practices (e.g. Teacher) is preferred. Experience in classroom settings and/or working with children is highly preferred.
  • Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week during the months of data collection, during regular school hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM‐1:00 PM).
  • Schedules are flexible, though attendance is mandatory to 2-3 days of training (9‐5 pm) (dates vary across projects, virtual and in-person options)
  • Reliable transportation is necessary

Pay ranges from $90.00–$185.00/day (varies by project and assessment length).
