2003 State Preschool Yearbook Interactive Database
The links below allow data from NIEER's 2003 State Preschool Yearbook to be viewed and sorted by specific data variables. This interactive database presents information from two data sets:
- Data from State Profiles - the key information regarding each state Pre-K program
- Data from Appendix A - the complete set of responses to NIEER's Yearbook survey
Although these two data sets share many elements in common, each provides unique information as well. We recommend the State Profile data set to users wishing to compare programs on key data elements from the Yearbook, and the Appendix A data set to users wishing to examine specific issues in greater depth. Both data sets cover the 2001-2002 program year.

Data from State Profiles
Because five states each funded more than one preschool program during 2001-2002, information from the State Profiles is divided into two major sections. In the first section data are broken down by state, presenting composite information reflecting the state's overall commitment to prekindergarten. This section includes three groups of variables listed under headings "Summary of Key Information," "Access," and "Resources". In the second section, data from the State Profiles are broken down by program, and grouped into categories of "Access" and "Quality Standards Checklist". As information in this section is program-specific, data for states with multiple programs are presented separately for each state-funded initiative.
