Kaitlin Northey

Research Project Coordinator P: (848) 932-4350

Kaitlin Northey is a Research Project Coordinator at NIEER and a doctoral candidate studying early childhood and policy at Rutgers University.  Her research focuses on how early education policies are experienced by an array of stakeholders, including children, families, teachers, and administrators, and aims to highlight the voices of those responsible for enacting these policies.  Her work at NIEER compliments her research interests as she helps teachers and administrators increase the quality of their preschool through third grade classrooms, teaching practices, and policies. She also uses qualitative methods to learn more about the work of early education leaders, teachers, and coaching personnel.

Kait has worked as a teacher and curriculum leader for children birth through eighth grade and frequently teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses at the Rutgers University, Graduate School of Education related to early education theories and practices, curriculum integration, and the arts.  She holds a B.A. in Art and Education and Child Study and a M.A.T. in Elementary Education from Smith College.
