Study: Top teachers pick up lighter assignments

Across the state, a teacher divide

A new study found that schools serving large numbers of poor and minority students have fewer experienced teachers and fewer who are certified in the subjects they teach. It also found that the higher a school is rated on the state’s accountability scale, the more likely its students are taught by well-prepared, veteran teachers.
