Investing in Early Childhood Education Would Promote Learning and Save Taxpayer Money in the Long Run

Arthur Reynolds, a UW-Madison professor of social work and human development, says his research also shows that kids who get off to a good start show lower delinquency rates, fewer special education needs and higher educational achievement. Unfortunately, the long-term study results reported by Reynolds and other top U.S. researchers have been largely ignored in the rush to find short-term savings to balance a mismanaged Wisconsin state budget.
