All they need to know about kindergarten they learn this summer

They aren’t quite kindergartners, but 65 youngsters in California are getting a crash course in classroom life — learning everything from playground etiquette to how to sit “crisscross applesauce” style during story time. With kindergarten becoming increasingly academic — students are expected to read, write, add and subtract by the end of the year — educators say school readiness is more important than ever.
