The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) conducts research on early childhood education policy to inform state and national policymakers. Research Professor (open rank) in Research Methods/Applied Statistics

The Institute seeks a person with a strong background in statistics and research methodology to contribute to the design, analysis, and interpretation of early childhood policy studies. This individual will also work with others in synthesizing the results of research for policy makers.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Designing and conducting early childhood education policy research as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Planning and performing statistical analyses that may include multilevel modeling, econometric modeling, psychometrics, and randomized and quasi-experimental designs.
  • Preparing technical reports, policy briefs, public testimony, conference papers, and other professional presentations and publications
  • Collaborating in the development of new studies, including writing grant proposals.

An advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in education, psychology, public policy, economics, sociology, statistics, or a related field is required. Experience in designing and conducting research and evaluation (both quantitative and qualitative) of education policies and programs and summarizing and interpreting findings from research for a variety of audiences is highly desirable. Knowledge of current early childhood education policy issues is also preferred, but candidates with exceptional skills in research methods interested in learning to apply those skills to early childhood policy studies will be considered.
